Buck: Coffman right to sue over EPA rules

November 13, 2015
In The News

Coloradans expect their elected officials to fight for justice. That's why I support Attorney General Cynthia Coffman's decision to sue the Environmental Protection Agency over its burdensome new power plant regulations, even though the lawsuit offends Gov. John Hickenlooper's political friends. For everyone in the state who will face higher energy prices and lost jobs through these EPA regulations, this fight is for you.

The new regulations slap onerous requirements on coal power plants without any benefits. Many plants will shut down to comply. Power companies will spend millions on replacement plants. And the cost of all these changes will show up on our monthly electric bill.

The untold story of President Obama's radical environmental policy mandates are that the least fortunate in society are hurt the most. Rising energy costs disproportionately affect lower-income families and seniors on fixed incomes.
