Washington – Today, the House passed H.R. 596 to repeal Obamacare in its entirety by a vote of 239 to 186. To date, the House has voted to pass 59 bills related to Obamacare, including bills to fully repeal, partially repeal, delay implementation, defund, or otherwise change the law.  Of those 59 votes, President Obama signed ten bills into law.  The House has voted four times to fully repeal the law.  Congressman Ken Buck (CO-04) released the following statement:

“Obamacare’s deleterious effects on the middle class are not up for question.  Hundreds of thousands of Americans in Colorado alone have been harmed by the President’s healthcare law.  Perhaps one of the most perverse aspects of the law is how it grows government at the expense of the middle class.  We will not create an opportunity economy, nor will we restore America, by gutting and punishing the middle class.  Under Barack Obama’s leadership, Wall Street is thriving, and government dependence is increasing, while the middle class shrinks,” Buck said.

He continued, “Labor participation is at a historic low, with the Obama economy offering workers less opportunity and hundreds of thousands of Americans dropping out of the workforce altogether.  Obamacare is a major culprit in this trend because it discourages small businesses from hiring. I will continue to work to repeal and replace it with a healthcare law that benefits the middle class and all Americans.”

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the Affordable Care Act will eliminate the equivalent of 2.5 million jobs a year.  The law reduces both the supply and demand for workers, according to analysis by the Heritage Foundation.
