Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Ken Buck (CO-04) announced that fourteen students in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District have accepted appointments to the United States Service Academies as members of the class of 2023. Of those fourteen students, seven will be attending the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs while three will attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, two will attend the U.S. Military Academy, and two will attend the U.S. Naval Academy.

I’m so proud of these young men and women from Colorado who have committed their lives to protecting this country and accepted the call to duty, said Congressman Buck.I couldn’t be more confident in our nation’s future because these men and women will be in charge.

Each year, numerous applicants request appointments to our nation’s finest service academies, but only a select few are appointed. The service academies offer students dedicated to public service an undergraduate education that integrates academic studies with athletic competition and preparation for military leadership. Students requesting a nomination from Congressman Buck are evaluated on a variety of criteria including academic background, physical ability, personal recommendations, and an evaluation and ranking by the Academy Selection Board.

Residents of Colorado’s 4th Congressional District who are interested in seeking a nomination to a U.S. Service Academy may contact Molly Ford in Congressman Buck’s District Office at 970-702-2136.
