Restoration of Rights

Congressman Ken Buck offered an amendment to the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Division of H.R. 3354, allowing individuals who long ago committed a non-violent crime to petition the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) to have their Second Amendment rights returned to them. His amendment was passed by voice vote and is now part of H.R. 3354, which is awaiting action in the Senate. "The fate of your Second Amendment rights shouldn't depend on one youthful mistake," Congressman Ken Buck stated. "We need to give Americans a chance to petition for the restoration of their right to bear arms, so that parents have the opportunity to protect their families and so that grandparents can once again go hunting with their grandkids."
